How To Care For Your Cycology Garments

Our garments are designed to work as hard as you in your rides and workouts, and easy to care for. Our care instructions are as eco-friendly and simple as possible. We know you’d rather be out there pedalling than doing laundry!

TIPS TO EXTEND THE LIFE OF YOUR CYCOLOGY COLLECTION

Best Bet

Check out the individual care label, as they vary between styles and products. We know there’s a tendency to cut these labels off straight away for comfort. Keep them there until you memorise them!

Had Fun In The Mud?

Don’t let your muddy clothes dry. The longer you leave mud, dirt, or road grime on your kit, the higher the chance of it staining permanently. Run the kit under water (or a hose while you’re still wearing it!) to loosen and remove the dirt prior to washing.

Zip All Zips

This ensures that the sharp teeth don’t snag or damage your garments.

The Basics: Cold Wash, Air Dry

  • Avoid rough fabrics, surfaces, and heat that may rub your delicate kit.

  • Avoid washing your kit with garments that have denim or Velcro. It will be like washing your kit with sandpaper and will cause pilling.

  • Use a gentle, mild, wool wash. Do not use harsh detergents, soakers, fabrics softeners, or bleach. Using these harsh chemicals will destroy wicking treatments, membranes, water repellent treatments, anti-bacterial properties, and will destroy the fibres of the technical fabric.

  • Line dry in the shade. The active fabrics are moisture wicking, which means that they dry quickly. Keep your garments in the shade; the sun will fade your colours. Do not use a dryer as the heat can melt the fibres.

  • Line dry bibs and knicks in the shade, inside out (chamois-side facing out).

  • Do not store your cycling clothing while still wet or damp.

  • Keep those fluffy towels away from your Cycology clothing in the wash. Lint and cotton love to cling to technical fabrics, so keep them separated.

If your garment is machine washable:

  • Wash your kit inside out in a wash bag on a gentle cold machine wash using mild detergent with similar colours (to protect the print and finish).

For hand washing garments:

  • Wash separately in cold water with a mild detergent and rinse with clean cold water.

  • If your garments are a little hard on the nose, hand wash with a small amount of white wine vinegar mixed with warm water. This will remove odour-causing bacteria. Rinse thoroughly and air dry in the shade.

Taking Care of Bright Colours

  • Wash bright colours in cold water by hand or with similar colours in a short machine wash.

  • When wet, keep bright coloured clothing away from other fabrics.

Base Layer Family

Wash your summer base layers in a wash bag on a cold gentle machine wash. If it does get snagged, sew in a couple of stitches to keep the fabric intact.

Gloves

Turn your gloves inside out to protect the print. Wash your gloves by hand, or on a cold gentle machine wash ensuring the Velcro is closed. Go easy on the spin cycle, high RPM’s put a lot of stress of your gloves. Hang or lay flat to air dry.

Final Tip

Try and wash your garments as soon as possible after your ride or workout. If you’re in a rush and don’t have time to wash straight away, don’t just throw your kit into the laundry basket. Turn them inside out and hang up to air, especially if they are damp. This avoids bacteria from growing - you want to keep clear of that.
